Anna Baker, wife of John Baker has the oldest known tombstone in Henry County, she was supposedly re-interred here from the old Devon cemetery where Christopher Long is interred.
Samuel Batson died in the summer of 1833, legend says he was the one who started the cholera epidemic of 1833 in Henry county and was the first person to die in Indiana from the cholera. It formerly being a family cemetery there had been earlier burials here.
It was set aside as a neighborhood burial grounds in 1844 by Thomas Batson, naming Jacob Crane, William Bland and John Odom as the trustees of the Batson cemetery. This cemetery located in Liberty township, Henry county, Indiana is located on CR #500E, about one half mile south of SR #38.
